Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler dethrone Charlotte Flair and Asuka as WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions tonight at the Royal Rumble 2021.
Charlotte Flair and her short lived Championship reigns, name a better duo. On a serious note, this was the first time both teams actually looked like a tag team rather than two women thrown together because of a lack of depth in the women division.
There were several classic tag team tactics on displays, such as the saves, double team moves and much more. This wasn’t your 5-star contender but it was good and ticked all the boxes. Most importantly, it told a story and laid the path for future course of events.

Once Asuka hot tagged Charlotte, it seemed that the match would end with them defending their championship. However, her father Ric Flair became a thorn in her side once again. She would eventually get hit on the face by Lacey Evans before Jax pinned her for the win.

All four women have had better matches in their careers but this one had a purpose and it served it. This frees up Asuka for her singles duties as RAW Women’s Champion, sets up Charlotte vs Lacey and gives Jax and Baszler the title back.
