Real reason why Kevin Owens is taking time off from WWE. The former Universal Champion recently announced his hiatus from wrestling.

Kevin Owens took on long time rival Sami Zayn at WWE Hell in a Cell 2021 recently. Surprisingly, the Prizefighter took a loss in their fight. He then took to Twitter to announce that he will be taking a break from wrestling before reassuring his fans that he will be back soon.

He wrote:

“I fought like hell. Now, I need a little break. I’ll be back soon. Thank you, guys,”

Many have since speculated on the possible reason for the hiatus. Is he burnt out? Injured? It seems that the real reason is quite simple actually.

According to Dave Meltzer on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Owens hiatus is storyline related and not motivated by personal reasons.

“He’s taking time off, but I was told it’s storyline-related. So there you go.”

This is interesting considering that the WWE return to touring next month onwards. Owens is one of the biggest names the company has to offer and could easily help them sell a number of tickets.

Instead, they seem to be building towards something. A new character maybe? Or perhaps even a heel turn. Who knows? At this point we can only wait and watch.

Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
