Sami Zayn makes surprise WWE return! The former Intercontinental Champion looks set to feud with the current champion Jeff Hardy.

Jeff Hardy won the Intercontinental Championship from AJ Styles on the last episode of SmackDown before SummerSlam. All signs seemed to be pointing towards a feud between the Phenomenal One and the Charismatic Enigma. Instead, the WWE have added an interesting twist to the mix.

Hardy issued an open challenge for anyone in the back. Styles who was injured (Kayfabe) joined the commentary team as Shinsuke Nakamura walked in for a match. Hardy picked up the win after a decent TV match. The real surprise however, came after the match ended.

Sami Zayn makes surprise WWE return!

Jeff Hardy limped up the ramp after his victory. To his and all the viewers’ surprise, Sami Zayn walked out from behind. Zayn danced around Hardy with the old Intercontinental title in his hand while claiming to be the real champion.

Hardy and Zayn raised their respective titles against each other while Styles walked up to the ramp to argue with the man who dethroned him. Zayn took advantage of the argument and blindsided Hardy with a Helluva Kick before calling him a fraud.

Zayn has a very real claim to the title. He never lost the title. Speaking with Kayla Braxton backstage, Zayn said he was back to right the wrongs and claimed that he was the only real Champion and both Styles and Hardy were fraudulent champions.

When asked why he was he not in the WWE for the last few months he simply told her that it didn’t matter.

In reality, Zayn had asked to be kept off television during the pandemic. Styles won a tournament in his absence to crown himself the champion. Interestingly, Zayn had then said he was still the Intercontinental Champion and is now back to lay claim to the title.

Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
