Someone having posters of John Cena in his or her room shouldn’t be a surprise. Because of what he has done in WWE and Hollywood, millions across the globe see him as an inspiration. However, the “Mr. Hustle Loyalty Respect” effect isn’t limited only to the fans. Apparently, he has been a huge part of a Hollywood superstar’s early 20s. And the one whose life John Cena ended up affecting is none other than Margot Robbie.
In 2021, The Cenation Leader acted in the star-studded DC movie, The Suicide Squad. Alongside John Cena, the film featured big names like Idris Elba, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Sylvester Stallone, Pete Davidson, and more. During the film’s promotions, Margot Robbie shed light on a funny phase of her life involving John Cena.
Margot Robbie shared how her boyfriend’s obsession led to her sleeping with a John Cena cut-out in the room
Back then, John Cena, Margot Robbie, and James Gunn made an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live“. On the show, the “Birds of Prey” shared the history she shares with the WWE icon. She admitted to watching WWE as a child and being fond of “The Undertaker”.
However, by the time she was a teenager, she had kind of stopped watching wrestling. In her early 20s, Margot ended up having a boyfriend who was a huge WWE fan.
Margot Robbie claimed that the man was obsessed with John Cena. So-and-so that he dressed up like the 16-time WWE champion on his 21st birthday. In fact, he also had Cena’s life-size cardboard cut-out in his bedroom.
The Hollywood Superstar recalled sleeping in a room for two years with a life-size cut-out of John Cena. She said:
“I [Margot Robbie] had a boyfriend who was obsessed with John Cena… So much so that he dressed as John Cena for his 21st birthday and had a cardboard cut-out of John Cena in his bedroom. So, I slept in a room for two years with a life-size cardboard cut-out of John Cena in the room…”
Margot Robbie then remembered meeting Cena on the shoots for The Suicide Squad. She claimed to have thought about keeping the whole thing to herself. However, five minutes into the meeting, she ended up sharing it with her co-star.
The WWE icon-turned-DC Superhero made an appearance at this year’s WrestleMania
Because of his acting commitments, John Cena hasn’t been able to make regular appearances on WWE TV. In fact, he had to miss the last few WrestleMania because of that. However, that wasn’t the case for this year’s Showcase of Immortals.
John Cena kicked off WrestleMania 39 Night 1 by going one-on-one against the current US Champion, Austin Theory. Sadly, for his fans, it was the latter who emerged victorious.
