As brilliant as Vince McMahon’s mind is, it has also led to several unsatisfactory bookings. A typical example of Vince McMahon’s style of booking would be pitting two powerhouses in the main event, regardless of their in-ring skills. As a creature of habit, Vince McMahon continues to pitch ideas to the Creative Team, though he has no say in the creative process. A new report revealed that McMahon’s new ideas for Roman Reigns’ next opponent at Night of Champions were “scoffed at”.
With Backlash fast approaching, and Roman Reigns not scheduled for the event, fans are wondering who will Roman Reigns’ next opponent be. Even though Roman is sitting Backlash out, he will have to defend his world titles at Night of Champions. Night of Champions will also mark the Tribal Chief’s 1000th day as the Universal Champion.
Vince McMahon’s ideas for Roman Reigns’ next opponent were laughed at by the Creative team
According to WrestleVotes via GimeMeSport, Vince McMahon tried pitching for Roman Reigns’ next opponent for Night of Champions. But his ideas were downplayed by the Creative Team. Not just that, The Creative Team even scoffed at some of Vince’s pitches.
It is unknown what exactly Vince’s ideas were. However, the fact that the Creative Team laughed at his ideas gives us the inkling that the pitch must have been something inconceivable.

At this point, the WWE Creative team is restlessly casting about for Roman Reigns’ next challenger. It is believed that the challenger will be unveiled after Backlash in Puerto Rico. Night of Champions will take place on May 27th in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. We will have to wait and see who faces Roman Reigns on his greatest night in WWE so far.
Who could be Roman Reigns’ opponent for Night of Champions?
Since Roman Reigns continues to reside on SmackDown, there are a handful of potential challengers. However, Reigns has thoroughly defeated every challenger in the book. Main event-tier superstars on SmackDown include Bobby Lashley, Edge, Sheamus, AJ Styles, and Rey Mysterio. Earlier, rumors about AJ Styles being Reigns’ next opponent made the rounds.

However, a recent report shut the rumor mill after revealing that Triple H is “not even close” to booking AJ Styles as Roman Reigns’ next challenger.
This leaves us with Cody Rhodes from Raw. But, for Rhodes to chase Roman Reigns again seems to be far-fetched due to them belonging to separate brands. We will have to wait for the big reveal following Backlash.
