WWE considering NXT Championship Match for Wrestlemania. Royal Rumble winner Edge teased going after the NXT title.

NXT may have begun as a developmental brand for the WWE. In recent years however, it seems to have become the C show after RAW and SmackDown. The NXT roster has long participated in the Royal Rumble. They also took part in the brand warfare at Survivor Series back in 2019.

Charlotte Flair even challenged their then Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley at Wrestlemania last year after winning the Royal Rumble. It seems that this year, the NXT Championship will be defended at the showcase of the immortals.

According to Wrestlevotes some people backstage are pushing for Finn Balor to appear at Wrestlemania and defend his NXT Title.

“Full disclosure, I don’t know where discussions stand at this point… However, I do know that several people, including some high up personnel, have talked about having Finn Balor & the NXT Championship on the WrestleMania card this year. Especially considering it’s 2 nights,” The report read.

This is interesting considering Edge recently appeared at NXT to tease a potential challenge for the title at Mania. This report also gives away the result of Balor’s match with Pete Dunne at the upcoming NXT TakeOver. However, there is no word on who his opponent could be if the match does take place at the Grandest stage of all.

There is a good chance he may face Edge. Although the general consensus at the moment is that the Rated R Superstar will take on Roman Reigns for the Universal title. Balor could potentially face Karrion Kross for the championship.

Kross has been primed for a mega push by the WWE. He never lost the title and could have his rematch come mania. Besides, what better to showcase him to their audience then at the show of shows.
