In the world of pro wrestling, there’s often a debate about wrestlers gaining physiques with the help of illegal substances. Who can forget the infamous 1994 steroids scandal in WWE that dragged names like Hulk Hogan, The Ultimate Warrior, and Vince McMahon? To be precise, whenever a superstar has a unique body type, there will be suspicions about his methods. One such incident once happened with Brock Lesnar, where he ended up getting arrested.
Onscreen, fans might have seen “The Beast Incarnate” Brock Lesnar getting suspended or arrested. It’s obvious that the whole thing is part of a storyline. However, many of you might be unaware that he was once apprehended for real. In 2001, a year before making his WWE debut, Brock Lesnar was arrested under suspicion of carrying steroids.
It was the time when he was 26 years old and still in WWE’s developmental territory, OVW. Eventually, the charges were dropped when no drugs were found in the lab tests. Former WWE commentator Jim Ross recently shared his thoughts on the whole incident.
Jim Ross shares how he sees Brock Lesnar getting arrested for steroids possession
During a recent episode of his “Grilling JR” podcast, the Hall of Famer discussed Brock Lesnar’s 2001 arrest. Jim Ross went down memory lane and recalled how he and Jerry Brisco made him sign with WWE. He shared how The Beast Incarnate was during his OVW days.
As far as Brock Lesnar getting arrested for carrying steroids goes, Jim Ross had his own view. The Hall of Famer didn’t say the basis of Brock Lesnar getting arrested in 2001 was right. But he did give a hint as to what a common man will think after seeing The Beast Incarnate for the first time.
Jim Ross remembered how The Beast Incarnate’s father used to look. Significant, thick, muscular, and barrel-chested, Brock’s surely had great genetics, according to him. However, there were times when Ross saw Brock really ripped, and thought, is this just diet?
“[Brock Lesnar’s] His dad was a moose… I’m talking significant, turn your head in an airport type of guy. Thick, muscular, barrel-chested…So,o there is no doubt in my mind this kid’s got great genetics, but because he sometimes got real ripped, you gotta wonder if that was just his diet, can he do that? I can’t do it…” Ross said
The 10-time WWE world is all set to face The American Nightmare next month in Puerto Rico
As noted above, getting arrested in 2001 didn’t affect the WWE career of Brock Lesnar. One year later, he made his main roster debut and the rest is, as they say, history. The Beast Incarnate has had one of the best careers in the history of WWE.
Right Now, the 10-time champ is entangled in a ferocious feud with “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes. On this week’s Monday Night RAW, the match was made official for next month. Both men will fight each other at this year’s BackLash which is set to take place in Puerto Rico on May 6.
