WWE prevents Kairi Sane from wrestling for a Japanese promotion

WWE prevents Kairi Sane from wrestling for a Japanese promotion. The former NXT Women’s Champion left WWE last year.

Very few wrestlers leave the WWE with smiles. Kairi Sane was among the rare few. She departed from the company last year on good terms. The WWE sent their regards to their former NXT and Women’s tag team champion on all of their social media platforms.

Sane is currently in Japan. Stardom attempted to get her to perform at their Budokan Hall show on March 3rd. This is the biggest show in their history and they wanted to have her on their card. Unfortunately, although she is no longer an active wrestler on the WWE roster, she is still signed with the company in an ambassador’s role.

According to a report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the WWE still reserve the rights to Kairi Sane and by extension, the right to reject any offers that involve her wrestling for another company. Sane worked with them before moving to WWE. Both her and the promotion were eager for reunion if only for a night. However, the WWE denied their requests.

“Even though she asked, Kairi Hojo (Kairi Sane) was unable to get WWE permission to do the show. They had left it up to WWE. They wanted her in a big singles match but also offered WWE having her do a Rumble with legends. Sane is still under contract to WWE and works as a Japanese ambassador.”

Kairi Sane’s last appearance in the WWE was in an angle involving Asuka and the Golden Role Models. She was on Asuka’s corner during her match with Sasha Banks for the RAW Women’s Championship. Bayley would attack her, leading to a kayfabe career ending injury thereby setting up Asuka’s revenge against Bayley and Sasha Banks at SummerSlam.

Archie is a WWE and UFC Editor/Author at the SportsRush. Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
