Roman Reigns may face this wrestler instead of Adam Pearce at Royal Rumble

WWE Rumor: Roman Reigns may face this wrestler instead of Adam Pearce at Royal Rumble. The Tribal Chief may have a harder battle waiting for him.

Roman Reigns booked himself an easy Universal title defence when he manipulated the Gauntlet match last night to ensure that Adam Pearce came out the victor. It seems however, that the WWE official may not be the man he takes on at Royal Rumble.

The popular opinion among fans has been that this match may not be the final match they receive at the pay per view. This much has been corroborated by Dave Meltzer on the Wrestling Observer Radio. However, while fans speculate that the man may be Shinsuke Nakamura, he has a different name on his lips.

Shinsuke Nakamura had a strong showing at the Gauntlet match last night. He took out Rey Mysterio, Baron Corbin and Daniel Bryan in succession. He even shook Bryan’s hands after the match signalling a possible turn. With only Pearce left, a Universal title shot seemed certain until Reigns and Jey knocked him out.

The popular opinion out there is that this will come to play in the future and Nakamura will eventually take on the Tribal Chief. According to Meltzer however, the WWE may go back to an old feud instead.

“It’s possible that they’ll change it back to Kevin Owens because it seems like a strange match to make; because if they do that it pretty much tells you that they literally have no ideas at all,” Meltzer said. “I’m not ruling out that they’ll go back to Kevin Owens.”

The way the WWE have written Reigns character so far, he has accumulated a host of enemies. Owens has a very reasonable motivation to have another go at the Tribal Chief. So does Daniel Bryan and now Nakamura. With all three of them being exceptional wrestlers, either could have a go and it will more than likely deliver.

While Owens has had his chance though, the other two have not. It will be interesting to see when and how that happens. Will any of them eventually face Reigns at Wrestlemania or will we receive an entirely new opponent for the Blue Brands Champion? We’ll just have to wait and watch.
