Shaquille O'Neal Big Show

NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal’s love for pro wrestling is spread all over the internet. Dr. Shaq has made occasional appearances in the ring and often talks about wrestling on social media. In fact, last year, he teamed up with Jade Cargill to beat Cody Rhodes and Red Velvet in a mixed tag team match. Recently, the 7-foot-1-inch NBA GOAT has called out another AEW superstar to an in-ring bout. However, the man Shaquille O’Neal has challenged is none other than 7 feet 441 pounds, Paul Wight.

Shaquille O’Neal and Paul Wight share a long history as both have had a face-off in the WWE ring. Though it was the time when Wight was popular as Big Show. This time, Dr. Shaq wants to wrestle the 7ft giant in the AEW ring.

Shaquille O’Neal sends out a tag team match challenge to Paul Wight

Recently, pro wrestler/celebrity jeweler Diamond Sheik made a Twitter post alongside NBA veteran Shaquille O’Neal. In a short clip, Sheik can be seen introducing his fans to Dr. Shaq. However, what interested fans more is the statement the NBA legend made after that.

The Big Shamrock recalled his victory against Cody Rhodes and then went on to deliver two messages. First, he warned everybody not to mess with Diamond Sheik. And then, he presented his friend with a brand new Diamond Championship belt.

Not just that, Shaquille O’Neal also called out Paul Wight by his WWE name and then issued a challenge. He expressed his desire to team up with Diamond Shiek and fight Wight and a partner of his choice in a tag team match. In fact, Sheik called out AEW President Tony Khan and asked him to make the match official. Here’s what both men said:

Both giant athletes once almost ended up having a wrestling match at WWE’s Show of Shows

The rivalry between The World’s Largest Athlete and the 15-time All-Star began in 2009 when the latter hosted an episode of RAW. After that, in 2017, Shaq and Show had a face-off during the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 32. In fact, both men together delivered a slam to Kane, but were eliminated by the rest of the contestants.

Finally, at WrestleMania 33, WWE was planning to have a match between Big Show and Shaquille O’Neal. However, due to Shaq’s busy schedule and ongoing basketball, that match never happened. In a past interview, the AEW superstar revealed the reason and then expressed to do that match in the future.

Nevertheless, if AEW management gives a thumbs up, fans might soon see the dream match happening. And when both giants will finally collide in the AEW ring, no fan would want to miss that. Though as of now, neither Paul Wight nor Tony Khan has responded to the offer.
