“The Almighty” Bobby Lashley holds an impressive pro wrestling record that spreads from the WWE ring to TNA. After making his WWE debut in 2005, Lashley had a 3-year run before getting released in 2008. He signed with TNA in 2009 but was surprisingly released in less than a year. Recently, former TNA higher-up Eric Bischoff shed light on the real reason why Bobby Lashley was fired back then.
During a recent episode of his 83 Weeks podcast, Bischoff explained how the whole thing transpired. He also shared how Lashley’s family became the reason he was released from TNA back then.
TNA fired Bobby Lashley because of his then-girlfriend Kristal Marshall
According to a few reports, Kristal was the reason why The Almighty chose to leave WWE in 2008. Now according to Eric Bischoff, she is the one to blame for the 2010 TNA departure of Bobby Lashley.
Speaking on his show, the former TNA higher-up explained how it was to work with Bobby Lashley in TNA. Bischoff stated that working with The Almighty was like ‘working with butter’. However, working with his then-girlfriend Kristal Marshall was totally the opposite.
Eric Bischoff claimed she was a little hard to deal with, which ended up creating tensions backstage. And with time, she got in the way of Lashley’s career in that company. Bischoff further revealed that it was he who told Bobby Lashley that he was fired from TNA. He stated:
“Kristal (Marshall) was not so easy to work with… As time went on… she got in the way of Bobby’s career… I actually fired Bobby Lashley in TNA. It wasn’t my decision to fire him, I was just voted the guy to go tell him…”
Anyway, TNA rehired Bobby Lashley in 2014, and before returning to WWE in 2018, he had won the World Heavyweight Champion four times. In fact, he is also a former one-time X Division Champion and one-time and final King of the Mountain Champion.
WWE recently hinted that the old Hurt Business could be back in business soon
In early 2020, Bobby Lashley formed a dominant faction alongside Shelton Benjamin and Cedric Alexander. The group was called The Hurt Business and was managed by MVP. Throughout its course, the faction was not only popular but in fact, one of the best things on RAW. However, in mid-2021, Vince McMahon decided to split the popular heel faction for no reason. Although the company tried to reunite The Hurt Business once but didn’t go with the plans.
Now once again, WWE has hinted at a reunion of its old popular heel faction. During the recent edition of RAW, MVP, Benjamin, and Alexander were shown having a chat with Adam Pearce backstage. Though the whole thing was shown while Damage CTRL was entering the ring for a promo segment.

Nevertheless, Bobby Lashley has been laying low since he was fired during the December 12, episode of RAW. Although the decision was taken back, Lashley hasn’t appeared on WWE TV ever since. Who knows, this time The Almighty could be returning with his old faction.
