Roman Reigns Leukemia

Roman Reigns was launched into the WWE universe as a replacement for John Cena. He was seen by Vince McMahon as the next big star that could carry the WWE on his shoulders after the Cenation leader moved on. However, the WWE universe refused to acknowledge him as the next face of the company. Much like his predecessor, Reigns received polarizing reactions every time he appeared on television, but that changed one fateful night when the then Big Dog made a startling revelation.

Reigns entered the ring on Oct. 22, 2018 as Joe Anoaʻi to reveal his secret battle with leukemia to the fans for the first time. He relinquished the Universal Championship and promised the fans that he would definitely return to the squared circle. A promise that he kept, returning to WWE four months later to announce that his cancer was in remission.

Does Roman Reigns still have leukemia?

Reigns has since become a regular feature on WWE television, and has headlined two consecutive WrestleMania, and is on course for a third this year.

The WWE superstar appears to be as healthy as ever. However, there are fans who are worried and wondering if the tribal chief still has the deadly disease, or has he made a complete recovery.

Reigns has been rather private with his battle with leukemia and has not addressed it since his celebratory return back in 2019. So his status is unclear. Although, one can assume that he probably still has a weakened immune system, which is why he stayed away during the Coronavirus pandemic back in 2020.

However, with the shape he is in right now and the performance he continues to put in, we can assume that he is in a much better state than the one that forced him to relinquish the title that he now wears proudly.

Roman Reigns was diagnosed with Leukemia before he debuted in the WWE

Reigns’ public announcement in 2018 was not the first time he fought Leukemia. The tribal chief first faced the disease at the age of 22. In fact, his first diagnosis led to him quitting football and moving into wrestling. He was signed by the Minnesota Vikings as a free agent back in 2007. However, his dreams were immediately shattered during the team physical when he learned news of his cancer.

He moved back to Florida to be with his family and eventually gave up on the NFL before joining the WWE in 2010.

Reigns faced a similar situation once again. However, this time, he was able to fight it and go into remission instead of being forced to quit another career path so dear to him.

Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
