Mercedes Mone WWE return

Sasha Banks is one of the most popular stars the WWE has ever produced. Naturally, the fans are excited to see what lies in her future. Especially after she walked out of the promotion earlier this year due to feeling underwhelmed by the direction they had planned for her character. There have been murmurs of a possible switch to AEW. Regardless of whether that happens or not, a stop by in Japan, more specifically, NJPW, seems to be in order for the WWE Women’s Grand Slam Champion first.

Banks has long spoken of her fascination with Japanese wrestling. During one of her sabbaticals from WWE she was seen training with Meiko Satomura at the Sendai Girls Dojo. She will now be up close to the action at the biggest annual wrestling event in the country.

Sasha Banks set to appear at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 17

According to PW Insider, NJPW is bringing Sasha Banks to Wrestle Kingdom 17 next month. It is not clear if she will simply attend the event or make an appearance in front of the crowd.

It is interesting to note that Bushiroad, who owns NJPW, also owns Stardom. The women’s wrestling promotion recently crowned former WWE Superstar Kairi as their inaugural IWGP Women’s champion.

Banks has previously teased a match with Kairi on her Instagram story that was shared by the Pirate princess on Twitter.

This was merely a month before Kairi beat Mayu Iwatani at Historic X-Over on November 20 to etch her name in history.

Is Sasha Banks no longer a part of WWE?

Sasha Banks is no longer listed on WWE’s internal roster. However, she is still listed as an active wrestler on WWE.com.

Following the horde of WWE returns since Triple H took over, many believed it was only a matter of time before Banks followed suit. That, however, hasn’t happened yet and fans are now worried it may not happen at all.

During an interview with Ariel Helwani, Triple H was asked about the Boss. He admitted that they had a breakdown in their communications and while it was not a difficult process to restart the conversation it was a process nonetheless, one that they’d have to go through.

“There was a communication breakdown there, for whatever reason. Starting back up that communication is not a difficult process but it can be a process and you have to go through the process,” Triple H said. “But she’s an unbelievably talented woman who can do just about anything she wants. It just comes down to what does she want to do now.”

Archie is a WWE and UFC Editor/Author at the SportsRush. Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
