Matt Riddle: Triple H says he’s open to Matt Riddle fighting in the UFC

Matt Riddle: Triple H says he’s open to Matt Riddle fighting in the UFC. However, he added that they will have to talk and discuss about it.

Matt Riddle, one of the rising stars in NXT was a mixed martial artist before making a career in professional wrestling. The King of Bros was very good at it too. He fought for the UFC from 2008 to 2013. He was fired after testing positive for marijuana twice in the same year. The failed drug tests also saw the UFC overturn two of his victories to No Contests. Without the positive marijuana tests, Riddle would have held an octagon record of 10-3 with a streak of five consecutive victories.

With an increased profile, Riddle is on his way to potentially become a sensation in the company and with UFC not as strict regarding drug related offences, could they come calling for the King of Bros?  We don’t know that, but if they do, Triple H wouldn’t mind having Riddle on both companies.

This is what the King of Kings had to say about the situation:

“You bring up Matt Riddle, one of my favorite talents out there right now. He brings out an intensity and dynamic that few bring to the ring. The question would be, if an offer came, would it be something he’s interested in doing? Because he’s having the time of this life doing what he’s doing. He might, but I don’t know that he’d want to take a moment out and train differently. He loves what he does, and it shows, because he’s one of the best in the world,”

“We’d talk to Matt about it and see what the opportunity was. Is it something we would like to do? Is it something he would like to do? There’s no set in stone template in how you deal with this stuff. We have talent within the system that get offers to do a lot of things. Even internationally, we have talent from India, but he’s like a television and movie star in India, but his dream to be a wrestler. Every now and then he goes home and stars in a movie and stays in shape, continues to do everything he can do while he’s there and comes back and gets his training. If the opportunity is there, and it’s the right thing, we talk to them about it.”

Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
