Yuvraj Singh gives hilarious reply when asked about his back problem after opening match of Global T20 Canada 2019 at Brampton

Yuvraj Singh-led Toronto Nationals faced a one-sided eight-wicket defeat in the opening match of the second edition of Global Canada T20 tournament versus the defending champions Vancouver Knights led by the ‘Universe Boss’- Chris Gayle.

All eyes were on the Toronto National’s skipper Yuvraj Singh, who played his first match after announcing his retirement from International Cricket last month. While the Canadian fans expected to witness some big hits from the 37-year-old, it turned out to be a day which Yuvraj would like to forget as soon as possible.

Coming on to bat at No.4 after put into bat by Chris Gayle, Yuvraj’s 27-ball 14 did not help sail the Toronto National’s ship to a commanding total. His sluggish innings perhaps had a lot to do with his lower back spasm which started troubling him quite early on in his innings.

Despite repeatedly being addressed by the physio during the middle of the innings, he kept on struggling to find the sweet spot of his bat till the 17th over of the innings, only to be declared Out in a controversial manner courtesy an umpiring blunder from the Square-Leg umpire.

Yuvraj comes up with hilarious reply on being asked about his back problem

The injury seems to be more than just a minor one, as Yuvraj did not even step onto the field during the second innings. It was the Kiwi opening batsman Brendon McCullum, who acted as the stand-in captain for the entire innings.

However, during the post-match presentation, when asked by the presenter about the condition of his back, the left-hander made sure he brought out his humorous side from the casket.

While initially admitting that his back condition is a serious concern, he added that a couple of drinks would perhaps act as a perfect solution to the pain he was going through.

“My back is not so great at the moment, maybe a few drinks tonight will help me relax a bit”, replied Yuvraj.

Chris Gayle seconds Yuvraj’s solution

Vancouver skipper Chris Gayle, as well as Pakistan legend Wasim Akram- who was giving away the awards post the match couldn’t help but laugh out loudly at the funny response.

When the presenter asked for a solution to Yuvraj’s back problem from Gayle, the latter had no other option but to second his reply, terming it as the perfect remedy.
