Zinedine Zidane on the verge of quitting Real Madrid over Paul Pogba transfer

Zinedine Zidane on the verge of quitting Real Madrid over Paul Pogba transfer. Florentina Perez has not stood tall on his promises and the Frenchman is feeling dismayed.

Zinedine Zidane had abruptly left Real Madrid last season after leading them to a third consecutive Champions League. The Spanish outfit suffered an embarrassing season where they failed to perform in all competitions, they participated in.

This resulted in Real Madrid going through two managers in a span of a few months before Florentina Perez convinced Zidane to take control of the sinking ship once again. The return came with a promise that Zidane would have complete control over the team and the transfers. However, the Independent have reported that Zidane is already contemplating leaving once again before the season has even started.

Florentino Perez hasn’t come good on his promise

Zidane had announced earlier in the year that there would be changes at the Santiago Bernabeu with a lot of incomings and outgoings. While Real Madrid have spent €300m in the ongoing transfer window, Zidane is yet to get his wish.

The Former Real Madrid playmaker had desired to bring in Eden Hazard, Paul Pogba and Kylian Mbappe over the summer. However, Real Madrid have only managed to bring in Hazard out of the 3. Mbappe’s public declaration of loyalty to PSG meant that he was out of the question. Pogba on the other hand was personally promised a place in the Real Madrid squad by Zidane himself. However, Perez informed Zidane that it was going to be difficult given United’s £180m asking price. Perez’s reluctance to pursue Pogba wholeheartedly has meant that Zidane has ended up looking like a fool in the end.

The Frenchman looked towards Paul Pogba to replace the ageing Luka Modric. He was also keen on letting go of both Gareth Bale and James Rodriguez. However, Perez has once again played spoilsport to Zidane’s place. The Real Madrid president has been unwilling to let Rodriguez go to Atletico Madrid or see Bale depart on a free. All this has contributed to Zidane feeling let down and has pushed him close to the door.
