Zinedine Zidane’s emotional Whatsapp to all his players
Zinedine Zidane’ resignation as the manager of Real Madrid came as a shock to the footballing fraternity, as the Frenchman had just won his 3rd consecutive Champions League title and the 4th in 5 years.
In the aftermath of the victory in Kiev, both Ronaldo and Bale had raised concerns over their future at Madrid and it looked like at least one of them could leave. No one, absolutely no one had even the slightest idea about Zidane planning to quit.
But he did, holding an impromptu press conference along with Florentino Perez telling the world about his decision.
Perez too was shocked with the decision and wanted Zidane to know that he was always welcome to come back to the position that he made his in the last few years.
Zidane admitted that he had only personally told Sergio Ramos about his decision and had whatsapped the other players about his departure.
According to reports in the Sport, Zidane sent a very emotional text to his Real Madrid players, describing his years at Madrid and thanking them for all the support.
“Thanks for everything. Without your support in the hardest moments, none of what we have achieved would have been possible.
“We’ll meet again soon, a hug.” Zidane’s message read.
Zidane has conceded that he won’t be managing any other club for sometime now, but the rumour mill suggests that he could be in line for the Qatar job and has apparently been provided with a $176 million/year contract.
It will be interesting to see what job Zidane takes up after his super successful stint with Madrid and one has to expect that it would be all down hill from hereon for Zidane.
