Zlatan on Mourinho: Former Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has spoken on the Portuguese manager’s situation at the club.
Manchester United have had an underwhelming season, both in terms of summer window and football so far. The club reportedly failed to meet Mourinho’s demands in the transfer market, and United finds itself at 8th in the league after 8 matches.
The situation was further worsened after a training session video showed Mourinho and midfielder Paul Pogba arguing with each other.
However, United’s victory against Newcastle with a late winner from Alexis Sanchez has fuelled some positivity among the fans.
Former Manchester United star Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who left the club last season after winning the EFL Cup and Europa League in 2016/17, has now spoken on Mourinho’s situation at the club. There have been various reports in the last two weeks which suggested that Mourinho could be sacked by the club. Ibrahimovic, however, has backed the manager.
Zlatan on Mourinho:
The former Swedish international insisted that Jose Mourinho is the right man for the job and the players need to step up.
“I think he is the right coach for that club, for that team. But a coach is only as good as his team, so it’s not like he can do miracles if the team is not good enough. And I feel the team is good – it’s progressing, becoming better,” said Ibrahimovic.
“This is his third year, the players know more and more the way he wants to play and how he wants it – so I believe, yes, I think he has the ability to win the Premier League,” the former United star further added
Earlier, Ibrahimovic stated that Jose Mourinho is a winner and would do everything to win games. “Why is Mourinho so special? First of all because he’s a winner, he has this winner mentality. He does everything to win. He knows the game. He reads the game well. He manipulates, not the game, but the minds of his own players,” said Ibrahimovic.
