Argentina are the second most accomplished side in this tournament history, having lifted the trophy on 14 occasions. They are only second to Uruguay and will start as one the favourites, which is majorly down to one factor, Lionel Messi. There is a feeling that the Argentine needs to lift a silverware with his country to secure legendary status, and this could be the last chance to do so.
They were dealt with a huge blow when the first-choice shot-stopper Sergio Romero, ended his hopes of making to the Copa America by injuring his knee. Esteban Andrada will be the preferred goalkeeper, but he will not be taking part in the opening game.
Argentina sit in a tricky group which contains Paraguay, Colombia, and Qatar. They are expected to qualify for the next round, but Colombia and Paraguay can match Argentina’s abilities on the pitch.
We shall look at Argentina’s squad and some details which will come handy to the South American country faithful.
