Sheldon Cottrell run out: West Indian bowler displays an amazing fielding exhibition to dismiss Tamim Iqbal during WI vs Ban match at Tauton
During the 23rd match of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, the Windies fast bowler, Sheldon Cottrell, arguably came up with one of the best moments of the World Cup so far during the West Indies vs Bangladesh match played at Taunton on Monday.

It all happened during the 18th over of the second innings. Bangladesh were on course for their record chase ever in a World Cup match. Sheldon Cottrell, who is known for his famous ‘salute celebration’ every time he takes a wicket, produced a superb fielding display worth a salute from the spectators and viewers this time around.
The third delivery of the over was hit straight back to Cottrell by Bangladesh’s opening batsman Tamim Iqbal. Tamim, in anticipation of a single impromptu took a step or two out of his crease. But, Cottrell was onto the ball quickly and within a split second, hurled the ball back onto Tamim’s end with a one-handed pick.
It was clear, that Cottrell just had an impulsive shy at the stumps. But, the quickness of the return and a bulls’ eye aim at them, was as clinical a fielding display one would ever witness on a 22-yard deck.
Bangladesh with a record chase
But, the moments of brilliance from Cottrell was not talked at length for long, as the Bangladeshi batsman made sure they broke every other record they possibly could as they chased down the score of 321 with 8.3 overs to spare.
With this win, Bangladesh recorded their highest ever chase in World Cup, and also equalled World Cup’s second highest chase ever. All-rounder Shakib-Al-Hasan once again proved why he is touted as the best all-rounder of the millennium, with a sublime 124-run knock off just 99 deliveries. He was equally well partnered by wicket-keeper batsman Litton Das, as he scored 94 classy runs in 69 deliveries.
The aforementioned 189-run partnership was also Bangladesh’s best 4th wicket partnership in World Cup matches. Thus, with 2 wins and as many losses, Bangladesh are currently placed a the 5th spot in the points table after 5 matches.
