Yuvraj Singh signs for Toronto Nationals in GT20 2019: Former Indian cricketer will be seen in his first stint as a freelance T20 cricketer.

Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has become the first Indian cricketer to be included in a team for the second season of Global T20 Canada.

Having recently retired from international cricket, Yuvraj is now eligible to play as a freelance T20 cricketer around the world. During his retirement speech, the southpaw hadn’t shied away from saying that playing in overseas leagues is one of the reason behind him retiring from international cricket.

In 231 T20s during his 16-year old career, Yuvraj has scored 4,857 runs at an average of 25.69 and a strike rate of 128.76. While he hasn’t scored any T20 century, he has amassed 27 half-centuries in the format. With the ball in hand, Yuvraj has dismissed 80 batsmen at an average of 24.86, an economy rate of 7.47 and a strike rate of 19.2.

Other than Yuvraj, Toronto Nationals have also signed former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum and veteran West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard.

The second season of the tournament will begin on July 25. The final of the tournament will be played on August 11.

Global T20 Canada league had started last year. Under Universe Boss Chris Gayle’s captaincy, Vancouver Knights had lifted the trophy.
