IPL Auction Postponed; Expected to be held in late February

The Indian Premier League Auction that was earlier planned to be held on 4^th February is now postponed. This is due to the delay caused by Supreme Court in appointing a panel of administrators to run the board for cricket in the country.

Although the new date has not been finalised yet, it is expected to be somewhere around 20-25^th of February. A BCCI media release read, “The Committee of Administrators (COA) met the BCCI officials today to take stock of the urgent, important matters mainly concerning the successful conduct of the IPL 2017.”

The Supreme Court of the country had earlier sacked BCCI President Anurag Thakur along with chief secretary Ajay Shirke as the body failed to attend several warnings issued by the court. A the end of January, BCCI named 4-member committee to be chaired by Vinod Rai, former Comptroller and Auditor General of India.

The anticipation for this auction has been higher with teams looking for the right additions. With many English players under the hammer, teams took keen interest in the current T20I series of India and England.
