MS Dhoni hits gigantic last ball six: The Indian wicket-keeper batsman scored two sixes to collect 16 runs in the last over vs West Indies.

During the 34th match of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 between West Indies and India at Old Trafford, former India captain and current wicket-keeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni hit a couple of sixes in the last over off Oshane Thomas to power India to 268/7 in their allotted quota of 50 overs.

Dhoni, who came in to bat at No. 6 in the 29th over, was extremely slow in the beginning. Been accused of batting at a low strike rate lately, Dhoni remained unperturbed with the criticism as he continued to bat in the same manner.

A 70-run partnership between Dhoni and all-rounder Hardik Pandya (46) saw the former playing second fiddle as India gave signs of posting a respectable total.

On the first delivery of the last over, Dhoni hit a Thomas delivery over deep mid-wicket to for a six. In what were sings of breaking the shackles, they surely should have come a lot before the last over.

Refusing singles to Mohammed Shami on the following two balls, Dhoni hit a four down the ground to bring up his 72nd ODI half-century. On the last ball of the over, Dhoni hit a short delivery over deep square leg to finish the Indian innings on a high. The 37-year old cricketer ended up scoring 56* (61) with the help of three fours and two sixes.

Other than Dhoni, India captain Virat Kohli also scored an individual half-century before his soft dismissal in the 39th over. In what was Kohli’s 53rd half-century, he ended up scoring 72 (82) with the help of eight fours.
