It all happened during the 39th over of the second innings being bowled by Afghanistan’s premier spinner Rashid Khan. He bowled a pretty ordinary short delivery outside the off stump. Sarfaraz was quick to pounce on it and played a decent square-cut, wide of the fielder at point.
Najibullah Zadran stationed at deep backward point was quick to cover the ground making sure that there was no possibility of a second run. But, the Pakistan skipper had other ideas.
Despite having a clear view of the fielder who was about to gather the ball, an amusing indecision to go for the second run led costed his wicket big time. Even a desperate dive in the end, meant that he was way short of his crease.
Pakistan in deep trouble
Pakistan, chasing a paltry total of 227 put on the board by Afghanistan were in a decent position until Rashid Khan removed the in-form southpaw Haris Sohail (27 off 57). Things went on from bad to worse when Sarfaraz’s brain fade moment costed their side big time.
The Afghan spinners have really made the Pakistan batters sweat it out, with five of the 6 wickets so far shared amongst them.
At the time of writing, Pakistan needed another 38 runs off 27 balls, with Imad Wasim (31* off 40) and Shadab Khan (6 off 15) on the strike.
