Wasim Akram’s old interview contradicts Waqar Younis’ criticism for MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli
Wasim Akram’s old interview contradicts Waqar Younis’ criticism: Waqar Younis had taken an indirect dig at the Indian cricketers.
Indian team’s loss against England in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 yesterday invited plentiful remarks from across the globe. Former India captain and current wicket-keeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni was at the receiving end of the criticism after his approach in the slog overs was being questioned.
While the criticism and remarks were all acceptable, what came as a source of amazement was how several known faces came up with conspiracy theories with respect to Indian batsmen’s lack of intent. Since India’s loss affected the qualifying chances of fellow Asian teams, perhaps it was the reason behind the deceptive tales.

Former Pakistan captain Waqar Younis was among the prominent faces who were of the school of thoughts that the Indian batsmen did what they did on purpose. Younis took to his Twitter account to question the sportsmanship of champion Indian players.
Wasim Akram’s old interview contradicts Waqar Younis’ criticism
Younis’ tweet was followed by him receiving denunciation in return for his remark. Things further went on the other side for him after his fellow fast bowler Wasim Akram’s old interview started surfacing on social media platform Twitter.
In the interview, Akram had talked about how Younis had suggested him to involve in a run-out to deny former India captain Anil Kumble his 10th wicket of the innings during the historic Delhi Test of Pakistan’s tour of India in 1999.
Wasim Akram: “Kumble had got nine wickets. Me & Waqar were batting. Waqar came to me and said ‘How about getting run out?’ so that Kumble does not get his 10th wicket.” — Rings a bell?
Question their intent, but to smell a conspiracy is simply ridiculous. https://t.co/JyMgt7J104

With Younis questioning the Indian batsmen’s approach, a quote from another Pakistani legend didn’t see him in the best of spaces regarding his sportsmanship.
