Prithvi Shaw Injury Update: Shaw opens up on his injury for the first time after missing the ongoing India A’s tour of West Indies.

India opening batsman Prithvi Shaw had recently missed the India A’s tour of West Indies due to a hip injury which he succumbed to during the T20 Mumbai League 2019. Playing the final match, Shaw scored a vital half-century despite his injury.

The biggest consequence of the same was him not boarding the plane to West Indies. With the ICC Cricket World Cup done and dusted now, the eyeballs are likely to shift to the longest format as India will tour West Indies for three T20Is, three ODIs and a couple of Test matches next month.

Prithvi Shaw Injury Update

If he gets fit in time, Shaw should find himself in the squad for the Test series in West Indies. In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, Shaw opened up on the exact status of his fitness. However, he didn’t provide a particular date to get back to full fitness.

“I’m not a 100% fit and don’t know exactly how much it will take, the process is going on and I’m working with the physios to get back to fitness but can’t put a timeline on it right now. Yes, there is time so I can’t make a comment on that and we’ll see how it goes,” Shaw was quoted as saying.

Having made his Test debut last year against West Indies at Rajkot, Shaw was declared the ‘Man of the Series‘ on in his maiden series on the back of scoring 237 runs at a strike rate of 94.04 including one century and half-century each.

While he gave glimpses of being a long-term option at the top of the order, Shaw injured his ankle during a pre-series warm-up match in Australia to be eventually ruled out of the series.
