The fourth season of the TNPL (Tamil Nadu Premier League) is upon us and will present another chance to plentiful Tamil Nadu cricketers to stake their claim for selection upper-level tournaments like the Indian Premier League and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
Slated to begin on July 19, the fourth season of the TNPL will culminate with its final to be played on August 15. Before the new season begins, let us go through the final match of the last season and the players who ended up as the highest run-scorers and wicket-takers in TNPL 2018.

TNPL 2018 Results and Best Players
The final match of TNPL 2018 was played between Dindigul Dragons and Siechem Madurai Panthers. It was Panthers wicket-keeper batsman Arun Karthik’s unbeaten half-century which saw his team sealing a 118-run chase in the 18th over.
Opening the batting with Thalaivan Sargunam (0), Karthik rescued his team from 2/3 to the title on the back of a 117-run partnership for the fourth wicket alongside Shijit Chandran (38). The veteran wicket-keeper batsman ended up scoring 75 (50) with the help of four fours and four sixes.
After Panthers Damoderan Rohit won the toss and chose to field, Dragons posted a below par 117/10 in 19.5 overs. Other than their captain Narayan Jagadeesan (51), none of Dragons’ batsmen was successful in giving some fight against Panthers’ bowlers. With bowling figures of 3.5-1-30-4, Abhishek Tanwar was the pick of the bowlers for Panthers.

In what was a consistent tournament for Karthik, him scoring 472 runs in 10 matches at an average of 78.66 and a strike rate of 153.74 including six half-centuries saw him becoming the highest run-scorer in the tournament. Other than him, Dragons’ Jagadeesan (396) and Idream Karaikudi Kaalai’s Anirudha Srikkanth (347) were among the runs.
Among the bowlers, Tanwar finished the tournament with most wickets. In 10 matches, Tanwar dismissed 15 batsmen at an average of 22.06, an economy rate of 9.06 and a strike rate of 14.6. Apart from Tanwar, Jones Tuti Patriots’ Athisayaraj Davidson (13) and Lyca Kovai Kings T Natrajan (12) formed the Top Three highest wicket-takers.
