Virat Kohli-Rohit Sharma rift: CoA member confirms no rift in Indian cricket team, says report
Virat Kohli-Rohit Sharma rift: A recent report claimed Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to be at loggerheads over team selection.
A report which didn’t do much benefit to India getting eliminated from the recently concluded ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 was regarding a rift between India captain Virat Kohli and vice-captain Rohit Sharma over team selection in the World Cup.
Virat Kohli-Rohit Sharma rift
Speaking to IANS, a CoA (Committee of Administrators) member opened up on the alleged report on a rift dividing the Indian team into two factions. “The CoA cannot be reacting to reports in the media. If the players have any issue, they can/should bring it up with us. As far as the committee is concerned, there is no rift till the players talk of it with us,” the CoA member was quoted as saying.
In a separate interview with IANS, a member of the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) laid emphasis on CoA not putting enough focus on the report of a rift in the Indian team. “I wish the CoA would really focus on what they are required to focus on — administration. Someone in the CoA seems so hell bent on getting involved in board politics that the real job has been left undone.
“We are appalled by the news of rifts in the team coming out daily and at the absence of any effort to either lay the stories to rest or to solve the issue if it really exists. Surely, the manager can be asked to submit a report since it is an administrative issue,” a BCCI member was quoted as saying.
What about the review?
Another report which did the rounds after the World Cup was CoA looking to question Kohli and coach Ravi Shastri to review India’s performance in the World Cup. A board official also aimed at inquiring about the status the status of that review by CoA.

“To try and deflect attention, sudden announcements of reviews that can’t be undertaken are made, but where are those reviews? Should the situation be allowed to disintegrate in this manner,” the BCCI member said.
It is worth mentioning that CoA chief Vinod Dua had talked against any such questioning being planned with respect to either of Kohli or Shastri.
