Kingsmead Cricket Ground pitch report: Durban pitch report for DUR vs JOH SA20 League 2023 match

Durban Super Giants will take on Joburg Super Kings in the 2nd league match of SA20 League 2023 at the Kingsmead in Durban. Both sides have some great T20 players in their ranks, and they would want to start the tournament on a winning note.

The Super Giants are led by Quinton de Kock, and the all-rounders are the strength of this side. Jason Holder, Dwaine Pretorius and Kyle Mayers are the lead all-rounders of the side. Reece Topley will lead the pace attack, whereas they also have able spinners in Keshav Maharaj and Simon Harmer.

Joburg Super Kings are certainly one of the most popular teams of the tournament as they are owned by the Chennai Super Kings owners. Faf du Plessis is back in yellow colours to lead his side, and he has the support of Janneman Malan and Reeza Hendricks in the batting department.

Kingsmead Cricket Ground pitch report

The Kingsmead in Durban is set to host its first match of the SA20 League. Just like any other stadium in South Africa, there is a good amount of bounce on this track as well, and the pacers will definitely play a big part in this match as well. In the initial overs, the pacers will be important with the new ball.

A total of 14 T20Is have been played here, where 7 matches have been won by the teams batting first, where the average 1st innings score here has been 152 runs. Even in the T20 domestics, the average score is 151 runs, which states that batting has not been that easy here. Although, in the last T20I match here, both teams scored over 200 runs.

A fresh track is expected in this match, where the pacers can move the ball in the initial overs. If the batters can get set, they will able to play their shots properly. The outfield here is quite quick, whereas the boundaries are not that big as well. Any score around 170 runs will be a par score here.
