When will Australia’s 2019 Ashes squad be announced?
Australia’s 2019 Ashes squad: Cricket Australia have confirmed the final date and time for Australia’s 2019 Ashes squad selection.
It is that time of the cricketing calendar when the most historic and arguably the best Test series will be played. The latest edition of the Ashes will commence from August 1 at Edgbaston.
With both teams coming on the back of successful campaigns in the recently concluded ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, it would be interesting to see how well they make the transition against each other in Test cricket. While England eventually won the World Cup, Australia made it to the semi-finals.
In the build-up to the series, England are playing Ireland in a one-off Test at Lord’s. In what came as an unexpected turn of events, Ireland bundled out England for 85 in 23.4 overs.
Australia’s 2019 Ashes squad
As far as Australia’s preparation is concerned, 24 Australian players have just finished a four-day (three) practice which was being played among two teams of 12 players each. The match saw bowlers dominating the proceedings from the word go as no team could post more than 170 runs in four innings.
As far as batsmen are concerned, only David Warner (58) and Cameron Bancroft (93*) could register individual half-centuries. Among the bowlers, Peter Siddle (6), Mitchell Marsh (6), Pat Cummins (5) and Michael Nesser (4) were among the wickets.
Given the performances in the match, it is likely to affect the selection albeit in a small manner. Just when there were plentiful queries regarding when the Australian squad will be announced, National Selector Trevor Hohns has revealed the exact date and time for the same.
