AB de Villiers announces retirement from all formats of international cricket
Star South African batsman AB de Villiers has announced retirement from all formats of international cricket with immediate effect.
One of the greatest cricketers of his era, Abraham Benjamin de Villiers has decided to call it a day from international cricket. Fresh out of the IPL, nobody expected ABD to take such a drastic step.
De Villiers posted a video on his official Twitter handle with the caption, “I’ve made a big decision today”.

When one clicked on the video to hear what ABD had to say, it broke the heart into shambles.
“It has been a very tough decision to make and I’ve thought long and hard about it but I believe it is my time to step down. A huge thank you to my teammates, Cricket South Africa and all the supporters who have been behind me both in SA and around the world,” he said at the moment of his retirement.

The news of de Villiers’s retirement comes as a massive blow for South African cricket. With Faf du Plessis still not at his best in international cricket and Dale Steyn fighting one injury after another, the retirement of ABD will leave a huge void in the team.
The second highest scorer for RCB this year just behind Virat Kohli, ABD was striking the ball well. It did not appear even for a moment that he was in any sort of trouble. However, behaving like a true legend ABD has decided to step aside and give a chance to the youngsters.
ABD said as he signed off that he stood in all solidarity with Faf du Plessis and South African cricket.
