Rahul Dravid conflict of interest: The former Indian captain was slated to appear before BCCI’s ethics officer today.

Former India captain Rahul Dravid became the latest victim to get bit by the bug of “conflict of interest” in Indian cricket. Slated to become the President of the NCA (National Cricket Academy), Dravid was questioned because of his involvement with India Cements, a firm which owns the Indian Premier League franchise Chennai Super Kings.

Dravid was slated to appear before BCCI’s (Board of Control for Cricket in India) Ethics Officer D.K. Jain tiday to explain the conflict of interest allegations against him.

“He [Rahul Dravid] will have to appear in person and present his side of the story. He has already made his stand clear, but there are a few areas that may need discussion,” a BCCI official was recently quoted as saying.

In an interaction with The Times of India, Dravid had opened up on how he is approaching the whole issue ahead of him deposition before the ethics officer.

“It is a leave of absence which is what I have been asked to do at that stage. I will appear with my lawyer and represent my own case,” Dravid was quoted as saying.

Much like the complaints against legendary Indian cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman, Dravid’s was first questioned by MPCA (Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association) life member Sanjeev Gupta who found faults with Dravid appointment at the NCA and India Cements.

Apart from Dravid, BCCI Employee Mayank Parikh will also depose before the ethics officer citing conflict of interest allegations. Other than being part of the operations team in the BCCI, Parikh is eligible to vote in multiple clubs including the MCA (Mumbai Cricket Association).
