WATCH: Wriddhiman Saha grabs first-rate juggling catch to dismiss Faf du Plessis
Wriddhiman Saha grabs first-rate juggling catch: The Indian wicket-keeper was exceptional behind the wickets in Pune today.
During the fourth day of the fourth Test of the ongoing South Africa’s tour of India in Pune, India wicket-keeper batsman Wriddhiman Saha justified his selection over Rishabh Pant with first-rate wicket-keeping skills to dismiss South Africa captain Faf du Plessis.
It all happened on the third delivery of the 24th over when du Plessis inside-edged a delivery from India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. With the ball lobbing off the batsman’s pads, it started to die on Saha before he made the first attempt to catch the ball.
An alert Saha kept his eyes on the ball to grab it on the third attempt while diving towards the right of the batsman. Considering the effort put it to affect the dismissal, the Indian fielders were seen rejoicing with Saha.
du Plessis, who finally promoted himself to No. 4 ahead of Temba Bavuma, wasn’t successful in continuing with his spree of scoring runs. He ended up scoring 5 (54) in a situation which demanded a significant innings from him.
It is worth mentioning that this was Saha’s third praiseworthy catch of this match. While he grabbed a one-handed stunner to dismiss Theunis de Bruyn in the morning, he had grabbed a similar catch to same de Bruyn yesterday as well.
With bowling figures of 28.4-9-69-4, Ashwin was the pick of the Indian bowlers in the first innings. Having dismissed two batsmen since morning, the premier spinner is once again among the wickets.
