"Highlight Of My Culinary Career": When MS Dhoni's Words Of Appreciation Landed A Star Chef Over The Moon

Amidst countless stories of tragedy and turmoil around us, the special connection which human beings have with each other is what perhaps makes life seem magical at times. The term ‘fan’ might seem unjust in a world which is constantly striving for equality, but it somehow appears fair for some individuals to be placed on a special pedestal.

Former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is one such personality who has won the hearts of people from all walks of life over the years.

He might not find his name in the list of highest run-scorers or wicket-takers, but his personality traits does touch the human cord on most occasions. It is a feeling which is rare, beautiful, and in his case, it is both of them at the same time.

One such admirer of the man is a star Master Chef from Kerala, Suresh Pillai, who once had the opportunity to serve Dhoni with his delicacies in the Indian city of Trivandrum.

MS Dhoni’s Words Of Appreciation Landed A Star Chef Over The Moon

As Chennai Super Kings skipper lifted the fifth IPL title, Chef Pillai, perhaps overwhelmed with Thala‘s success was hit by nostalgia.

For the feel-good factor and in order to let his own numerous followers know how Dhoni has all his heart, he took to his social media handle to narrate the account of his meet up with the latter.

It was in October 2018, when the Indian team had arrived in Trivandrum to play an ODI against West Indies. Mr. Pillai was a chef in the hotel where the team was put up.

While he was star-struck with his awe-inspiring personality and the way he warmly greeted everyone in the hotel, the chef was only waiting for the moment Dhoni would order his food in the night.

“From the moment the team got off the bus, my eyes were searching for one man. He greeted all of us with his trademark, warm smile and made his way to the suite. Like a kid meeting his idol, I was star struck – I mean, who wouldn’t be?”.

“I Felt Like I Was Over The Moon” – Chef Pillai

After taking some deep breaths and calming himself down, chef Pillai finally arrived at Dhoni’s room. Since most of the players had ordered seafood, Mr. Pillai presented before him an assortment of the same.

However, the skipper himself ordered some rice, chicken curry, and a spicy rasam for his sore throat after disclosing that he is allergic to seafood.

The very next day, the chef claimed to have had Dhoni’s attention, as the latter went on to praise the dinner he had present before him last night. Exclaiming to have felt like over the moon, the star Master chef from Kerala remarked that the fact he could make his idol happy for a few days will remain a ‘highlight of his culinary career’.

“The next morning, he got hold of me while on the way to the gym and told me he loved the dinner! I felt like I was over the moon – nothing could have topped that feeling! The fact that I was able to serve and make one of my biggest idols happy, even if it was just for 4 days, would always be a highlight of my culinary career.”

He ended the ode with an anticipation that Thala will yet again hand him an opportunity to serve him with his delicacies in the future.
