Umesh Yadav hits Dean Elgar in the helmet: Watch Indian fast bowler’s brutal bouncer to South African opener
Umesh Yadav hits Dean Elgar in the helmet: The Indian fast bowler bowled a lethal delivery to South African opening batsman.
During the third day of the third Test of the ongoing South Africa’s tour of India in Ranchi, India fast bowler Umesh Yadav bowled a lethal bouncer to South Africa opening batsman Dean Elgar to hit him in the helmet.
It all happened on the third delivery of the 10th over when taking his eyes off the ball proved costly for Elgar as he was smacked right in the middle of his helmet. The southpaw immediately fell down and only got up after receiving medical attention.
It was the same reason why the umpires decided to take an early tea. It is worth mentioning that Elgar has retired hurt at the moment as all-rounder George Linde walked out to bat alongside wicket-keeper batsman Heinrich Klaasen in the last session.

It is reported that Elgar has been sent to a hospital for a concussion test. With South Africa already four down, the visitors will need him to bat again if they lose further wickets. Depending on Elgar’s medical status, the Proteas can also opt for a concussion substitute to bat in place of Elgar.
South Africa are currently following on after getting bundled out for 162 in 56.2 overs. At the time of writing this article, the visiting team trail by more than 300+ runs.

Oh that’s awful, Elgar’s been hit hard on the helmet by a short ball from Yadav. They’ll take tea. But this doesn’t look good.

India pace bowling has been story for me this series. They have brought seam, a bit of swing, relentless accuracy and menace, both with the new and the old ball #INDvSA

Gets worse for South Africa. Elgar can’t resume his innings so it is Klassen and Linde already. Maybe it is effectively 26-5 but more important, hope Elgar recovers soon.
