David Warner reveals who he thinks can break Brian Lara’s record of highest test score. The West Indian legend’s score of 400 was at risk of being broken.

Scoring an individual score of 300 is an amazing and rare achievement. 400 however, has proved to be insurmountable. West Indies legend Brian Lara achieved the feat and has since been in possession of the record of the highest individual score in red ball cricket.

The record though, was put under severe threat today when Australian opener smashed 335 runs. In doing so he surpassed Don Bradman’s highest score and there is good evidence that he may have surpassed Brian Lara’s record as well.

However, Australian captain Tim Paine decided against individual glory for Warner and chose to declare the innings at 589-3. With the weather forecast in mind, Paine chose to have a go at the Pakistani batsmen and they repaid his faith handsomely as Pakistan ended day 2 at 96-6.

Speaking after the end of the days play, Warner was asked to share his opinion on the man he believed could erase Brian Lara’s name from the record books. The Australian opener surprisingly chose to go with India opener Rohit Sharma.

Although Rohit Sharma’s test career has been less than stellar, Rohit has shown that he is more than capable of playing a long innings when he does apply himself. His 3 double centuries in limited overs cricket including the mammoth 264 against Sri Lanka are testament to his abilities.

However, red ball cricket is a whole different story. Although, in the last few matches, Rohit has shown that perhaps a move up the order is just what he needed to succeed at the highest level. With a few more years under his belt, can Rohit finally make it? A 400 from his bat would definitely send an entire nation in a tizzy. They will hope that the Mumbai batsman comes good on Warner’s prediction.
