Cuttack cricket ground stats: What is the highest ODI score successfully chased at Barabati Stadium?
Cuttack cricket ground stats: India will have to put on display a record chase in a bid to save the series against West Indies.
During the third ODI of the ongoing West Indies’ tour of India in Cuttack, West Indies have scored a handsome 315/5 in their allotted quota of 50 overs.
An all-round batting effort by the visitors saw contributions from their Top six led by individual half-centuries from middle-order batsman Nicholas Pooran and captain Kieron Pollard.
It was a 135-run partnership for the fifth wicket between Pooran (89) and Pollard (74*) which saw West Indies crossing the 300-run mark. It is worth mentioning that India conceded as many as 154 runs in the last 15 overs.

Chasing a 316-run target, the hosts have got off to a solid start with opening batsmen Rohit Sharma and Lokesh Rahul registering a 50-run opening stand. Having said that, they will have to put on display a record chase at the Barabati Stadium to win the series.
The highest-ever chase at the venue is 271 runs when India beat England by 6 wickets in 2008. Having won the match in the 44th over, India had thrived on the back of half-centuries from Sachin Tendulkar (91), Suresh Raina (53*), Virender Sehwag (50) and Mahendra Singh Dhoni (50).
India’s current vice-captain and opening batsman in Sharma had batted at No. 6 in that match scoring 8* (10). The 32-year old player will have to score much more than that if India are to seal this chase against West Indies.

Out of the 10 matches which have been won while chasing at the Barabati Stadium, India have been part of eight such instances.
Apart from their successful record at the venue while chasing, the Indian batsmen will also be taking notes from the English innings when they scored 366/8 in the second innings albeit in an unsuccessful chase in Cuttack in 2017.
With scoring posting such a total in the second innings in the last ODI played at the venue, India sure can chase a 316-run target to win the series 2-1 tonight.
