WATCH: Haris Rauf’s death-threat celebration after dismissing Daniel Sams in BBL 2019
Haris Rauf’s death-threat celebration: The Stars’ pacer bowled an economical spell after being included in the Playing XI.
During the 17th match of the ongoing ninth season of the Big Bash League between Sydney Thunder and Melbourne Stars in Sydney, Melbourne Stars fast bowler Haris Rauf gained limelight for his “death threat” celebration after dismissing Sydney Thunder all-rounder Daniel Sams.
It all happened on the fourth delivery of the 18th over when Sams was undone by a speedy delivery from Rauf. The batsman’s attempt of playing the big shot saw him losing his middle-stump to Rauf who then gestured as if he was slashing someone’s throat after picking a wicket.
In what is surely an unseen celebration in cricket, Rauf doing the same has also brought severe criticism for him on social media platform Twitter.
Not sure we need the throat cutting gesture from Harris Rauf everytime he takes a wicket. Clearly a very good bowler but the post wicket antics are over the top. Who’s with me?

As far as Rauf’s contribution with the ball is concerned, he was Stars’ pick of the bowlers for registering bowling figures of 4-0-24-3 after being dropped despite picking his maiden T20 five-wicket haul against Hobart Hurricanes earlier in the tournament.
Chasing a 143-run target for Stars, all-rounder Marcus Stoinis and batsman Nick Larkin stitched a 123-run partnership for the second wicket to lay a solid foundation for their team. While Stoinis scored 58 (51) with the help of four fours and two sixes, Larking top-scored for the visitors with 65 (45) with the help of eight fours and a six.
