Faf du Plessis grabs superlative diving catch: The South African captain registered an inspiring fielding effort on Day 3.

During the third day of the fourth Test of the ongoing England’s tour of South Africa in Johannesburg, South Africa captain Faf du Plessis registered an inspiring fielding effort to dismiss England captain Joe Root in the second innings.

It all happened on the third delivery of the 64th over when Root edged a delivery from Beuran Hendricks towards du Plessis at gully. With the ball running past the right of du Plessis, the 36-year old player dived full length to grab a superlative one-handed catch.

With Root becoming the last English batsman to get out, du Plessis’ catch bundled out the opposition for 248 in 61.3 overs. Coming in to bat at No. 4 in the 26th over, Root’s 48th Test half-century saw him top-scoring for his team with 58 (96) with the help of five fours and a six.

What du Plessis’ effort also did was earn a maiden five-wicket haul on debut for left-arm pacer Hendricks. Having registered bowling figures of 23-3-111-1 in the first innings, Hendricks did exceedingly well in the second innings (15.3-2-64-5).

In what seems to be another Test which will see a result, South Africa require 466 runs to draw level the series 2-2. With two full days remaining in the Test, there’s a possibility of them winning the match but not without a stellar fourth innings batting performance.
