Andy Robertson and Virgil Van Dijk gave a disgraceful interview after Liverpool’s 1-0 loss to Atletico Madrid in the first leg of the Round of 16 Champions league clash.

Liverpool returned to the Wanda Metropolitano for the first time since their Champions League conquest. However, they couldn’t replicate the success and instead lost to Atletico Madrid in the first leg of the round of 16 clash.

Liverpool have been unbeaten in the Premier League since last January and their only other loss this season was to Napoli in the Champions League group stage. Clearly, the side are not used to losing matches as was evident in the post-match interview with Virgil Van Dijk and Andy Robertson

Liverpool’s centre-back Virgil Van Dijk described Saul Nigez’s goal as lucky while left back Andy Robertson, criticised Diego Simeone’s side for ‘throwing themselves on the floor’ and ‘celebrating like they’d won the tie.’

Earlier in the match, Saul Nigez found the ball on his path after it had bounced off of Fabinho. The midfielder placed the ball past Alisson Becker to give his side the lead. This was the first goal Liverpool conceded in all competitions in 380 minutes.

Diego Simeone then put forth a defensive masterclass as Liverpool failed to register a single shot on target!

Atletico Madrid hold the lead for now. However, even the club realise that they’re in for a ride when the sides clash once again at the Anfield in a month.
