WATCH: Ball slips out of Dale Steyn’s hand; Steve Smith hits it for four in Johannesburg T20I
Ball slips out of Dale Steyn’s hand: The Wanderers T20I witnessed a hilarious moment involving the South African fast bowler and the Australian batsman.
During the first T20I of the ongoing Australia’s tour of South Africa in Johannesburg, veteran South Africa fast bowler Dale Steyn and Australia batsman Steve Smith were involved in a hilarious incident.
It all happened on what would have been the penultimate delivery of the third over when the ball slipped out of Steyn’s hand just as he was about to deliver it. It is worth mentioning that Steyn’s hand touched his ear which led to the ball reaching Smith in two bounces.
Smith, who seemed to be in no mood of letting a scoring opportunity go waste, stepped down the track to hit the ball down the ground for a boundary. However, the ball was eventually declared as a no-ball.
After South Africa captain Quinton de Kock won the toss and chose to field, Australia posted a handsome 196/6 in their allotted quota of 20 overs. Coming in to bat at No. 3 in the first over itself, Smith top-scored for the visitors with 45 (32) including five fours and a six.
Australia all-rounder Ashton Agar registered his maiden five-wicket haul and T20I hat-trick to play a pivotal role in bundling out the home team for 89 in 14.3 overs. Having registered bowling figures of 4-0-24-5, Agar was declared the Man of the Match.
