Alex Tudor bats for Virat Kohli: The former English fast bowler supported the Indian captain despite his mediocre form of late.

There is no going into a safe house regarding the fact that India captain Virat Kohli hasn’t been in the best of forms during the ongoing tour of New Zealand.

Kohli’s mediocre form in addition to the standards set by him for himself across formats at the highest level has started to invite criticism with respect to him not being among the runs. India losing the ODI series 3-0 and the first Test have further acted as fuel to fire.

Speaking during the post-match press conference after losing the Wellington Test by 10 wickets, Kohli was vocal about his form and didn’t express an iota of concern regarding any aspect of his batting.

“I am absolutely fine. I am batting really well. I feel that sometimes scores don’t reflect the way you are batting and that’s what can happen when you don’t execute what you want to well.

“Look when you play so much cricket and you play for so long, obviously you will have 3-4 innings that don’t go your way. If you try and make too much out of it, it’ll keep piling on,” Kohli was quoted as saying to the reporters.

Sri Lankan journalist Daniel Alexander was among the many people who were finding faults in the 31-year old player. Alexander took to social media platform Twitter to share Kohli’s below par stats from the tour before declaring him as “overrated”.

It was at the same time that former England pacer Alex Tudor came to Kohli’s rescue. Having last played international and First-class cricket in 2002 and 2009 respectively, the player-turner-coach couldn’t understand as to why one bad tour was inviting so much criticism for Kohli.
