Mohammad Amir castles Haider Ali: Karachi Kings’ spearhead put on display a match-winning bowling spell last night.

During the 15th match of the ongoing fifth season of the Pakistan Super League between Karachi Kings and Peshawar Zalmi in Rawalpindi, Karachi Kings fast bowler Mohammad Amir registered bowling figures of 4-0-25-4 to register a ‘Man of the Match’ performance.

Opening the bowling after their captain Imad Wasim won the toss and chose to bowl, Amir made early inroads into the Peshawar Zalmi’s batting lineup.

On the first delivery of the innings, Amir found Zalmi opening batsman Tom Banton (0) wanting in front of the stumps. Haider Ali (0), who replaced Banton in the middle, could last for only two balls as the left-arm pacer bowled a peach of a delivery to dismiss him and register the best of his four wickets.

Amir also dismissing Peshawar all-rounders in Lewis Gregory (25) and Carlos Brathwaite (8) towards the business end of their innings restricted the opposition to 151/8 in 20 overs.

Coming in to bat at No. 4, veteran all-rounder Shoaib Malik top-scored for Zalmi with 68 (55) including six fours and a six.

Karachi opening batsman Babar Azam’s 37th T20 half-century laid the foundation for a 6-wicket victory in the penultimate over. It was a 101-run partnership for the second wicket between Azam (70*) and Alex Hales (49) which put Kings in a winning position.
