SRH’s Vijay Shankar hints at ‘unpromising things’: Sunrisers’ all-rounder has admitted that he hasn’t listened anything regarding IPL 2020.
India and SunRisers Hyderabad all-rounder Vijay Shankar has expressed disappointment regarding the consequences of the novel COVID-19 around the world.
“The news about the condition of people in Italy and other parts of the world is disappointing, and I right now, all I am thinking about is staying safe at home and do whatever in the comfort of my home,” Shankar was quoted as saying in an interview with Khel Now.

SRH’s Vijay Shankar hints at ‘unpromising things’
Shankar, who last played for India during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 in England, is undoubtedly eyeing at the forthcoming season of the Indian Premier League to press a case for the ICC T20 World Cup 2020 in Australia.
With IPL 2020 getting postponed due to coronavirus, Shankar revealed that he hasn’t heard anything from the franchise and that things don’t look promising at the moment.
“No message [from SunRisers Hyderabad], nothing. But things don’t look promising at this point and it would be too early to comment upon anything. Let’s keep our fingers crossed and wait,” Shankar said.
Much like other industries, cricket is also suffering a lot during the outbreak of this pandemic. The Tamil Nadu-player further added that he isn’t thinking much about the cash-rich league due to the prevailing circumstances.
“I am sitting at home and doing nothing. I am not thinking much about the IPL or cricket in general because things are pretty scary these days due to the coronavirus outbreak,” Shankar added.
With the last of Shankar’s nine T20Is coming at home against Australia more than a year ago, the 29-year old player needs praiseworthy performances under his belt for only that will highlight his name for selection for the T20 World Cup.
In the 15 matches that Shankar played for SRH in IPL 2019, he had scored 244 runs at an average of 20.33 and a strike rate of 126.42.
