Summer Transfer Window: FIFA makes huge decision over the start of the transfer window in the summer amidst the coronavirus lockdown.

FIFA has decided that it will open the summer transfer window before the end of this season, which got delayed due to the lockdown enforced after the widespread of Coronavirus.

Premier League chief executive Richard Masters has already said England’s top flight will not allow clubs to sign players before 25 July, after the delayed campaign is brought to an end.

Most European leagues have similar plans in place, but Fifa’s new regulations would allow for windows to open earlier, stating “associations following a dual-year calendar are permitted to commence the ‘first registration period’ for the 2020-21 season prior to the completion of the 2019-20 season, subject to conditions”.

FIFA has also announced that a player will be allowed to play for up to three clubs – rather than the usual two – during the same season, considering the amendments made.

Almost all European leagues will resume by the end of next week and are assumed to get over in less than 4-6 weeks, the Premier League will be having matches every day until the end of the listed games.

Meanwhile, UEFA also has to accommodate Champions League and Europa League in the window to end the season in the limited time window.

Presently, many clubs even started negotiating for their desired players before this announcement was made, and now with this update, it brings up some clarity for all the clubs.

However, the movement of players cross-border is still a question in the picture and football bodies will have to clear it with the governments involved in the process.
