WWE Confirms Edge’s injury vs Randy Orton during ‘Greatest Wrestling Match Ever’ at the very well received main event of BackLash.

Edge and Randy Orton took to the mat like never before during their main event clash at Backlash. Their match was dubbed ‘the greatest wrestling match ever’ and the two were determined to keep face and live up to the tag.

While it wasn’t the greatest match by any stretch of imagination, it was one of the best matches across promotions in the last few months; one that the pair can look back with their heads held high. However, doing so came at a heavy price for Edge.

WWE Confirms Edge’s injury

The WWE confirmed in an official statement that Edge suffered a torn triceps injury. They also added that he had successfully undergone surgery and is currently rehabbing at home. They wrote:

“WWE Digital has confirmed that Edge suffered a torn triceps as a result of injuries sustained during The Greatest Wrestling Match Ever.

‘Edge has undergone successful surgery and is currently rehabbing at home.

‘The Rated-R Superstar faced Randy Orton in a grueling test of in-ring skills at WWE Backlash. Both competitors were pushed to the brink, but The Viper prevailed over his former friend in the highly intense match.”

Edge’s injury was first reported by Sean Ross Sapp on Fightful select hours before Backlash went on air.

Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer then reported that the injury was sustained during one of the retakes at the tapings which were done on June 7^th. There were no issues in the first taping of the match. However, Edge tore his triceps during the reshoot.

There is no word on how long will it take for him to recover. However, injuries like this can take up to 4 to 8 months. This means that is very likely that we have seen the last of Edge in the year 2020.
