WWE have a back up plan ready in case Roman Reigns vs The Rock doesn’t pan out at Wrestlemania 38

WWE have a back up plan ready in case a singles match Roman Reigns vs The Rock doesn’t pan out at Wrestlemania 38 next year.

It has long been reported that the WWE want Roman Reigns to face The Rock in the main event of Wrestlemania next year. Fans are also looking forward to the match between the two at the show and shows. However, it appears that there’s a chance that even if the match goes on, it may not be a singles match.

On the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that even if they manage to get the Rock at the show of shows, concessions may have to be made due to the Rock and his movie career, out of concerns for potential injuries.

This could result in the Rock and Reigns facing each other in a tag team match instead with one of The Usos teaming up with each of them. The idea behind the tag team match is that it would keep the feud “all in the family” and decide who really is The Tribal Chief – Reigns or Rock.

“One idea that has been talked about, as the goal is Reigns and Rock in Dallas for the 2022 Mania, is that if concessions have to be made regarding Rock and movies and injury fears, that they do Reigns and an Uso vs. Rock and an Uso, so Rock can be protected from doing too much and it keeps it all in the family with the idea and Rock and Reigns as who is really the tribal chief. Obviously the singles match is the preferred match but any involvement of Rock is preferred over him not doing the show.”

It appears that even the WWE would rather Reigns and Rock go at each other in a singles match. However, they would probably have no problem turning it into a tag team match as they would rather have the Rock at Wrestlemania 38 than not having him at all.

However, there is still quite a lot of time for the event to take place. A lot can change by then. Hopefully, a singles match is what the fans get but there is at least the assurance that the Rock will be there in some capacity.
