Lewis Hamilton: Formula 1 Management to allow British racer to take a knee
Lewis Hamilton: Formula One has indicated that they will support the drivers campaigning for the Black Lives Matter movement.
The British media outlet the Daily Mail had reported that F1 champion Lewis Hamilton will be ‘taking a knee’ at Austria next month. He has also appealed other racers in the paddock to follow suit. His father Anthony Hamilton also came out with a statement praising his son’s decision.
Now, FOM has also come out with a statement supporting the case. They have confirmed that no disciplinary case would be registered against their racers for taking a knee.
An F1 spokesperson said, “This is a very important issue and we support anyone who wants to show their support in the fight against racism.”
Speaking on the same issue, F1 Boss Ross Brawn had said, “Lewis is a great ambassador for the sport. His comments are very valid. We support him completely.”
Lewis Hamilton has been championing the cause after the news of the brutal killing of George Floyd. He has taken on social media to highlight several incidents of racism, appealing for an eradication.
Other sporting organizations like FIFA, UEFA, and the English FA have already lent their support to the movement. It would be interesting to see how many F1 drivers come out in support of Lewis and take a knee.
Lewis Hamilton has also spoken out on the Covid-19 situation, appealing to Her Majesty’s Government to do more for the unprivileged.
On similar lines, Marcus Rashford, Manchester United superstar has been successful in ensuring the Government provides free lunch meals to students in schools all across the land. He has received worldwide praise for his efforts.
