Yorkshire and Lancashire to play two-day match in July

Yorkshire and Lancashire to play two-day match: This will be the second such match among English counties to potentially resume domestic cricket.

Yorkshire and Lancashire will face-off against each other in a friendly match next month as English counties seem to be working together towards resuming the sport especially at a local level.

It is worth mentioning that this will be the second such match after Surrey and Middlesex had announced contesting against each other previously.

Yorkshire and Lancashire will play a two-day match on July 25 and 26 at the Headingley stadium in Leeds. Much like the Surrey vs Middlesex fixture, even this one will be played behind closed doors.

As far as the streaming of the match is concerned, it will have a multi-camera streamed coverage exclusive to Yorkshire’s qualified Members and Lancashire Members. However, one can expect more information on the same in the near future.

There will be for members of both clubs.

Yorkshire and Lancashire to play two-day match

While England are all set to resume international cricket on the back of hosting West Indies from July 8, not much progress was being made with respect to county cricket. With restaurants and pubs opening across the nation, fans and players are eager to know the status of this year’s county season.

“We are thrilled to have been able to arrange this fixture with Lancashire. Although the match will be played behind-closed-doors, both clubs are keen that its members have access to fantastic coverage of the match as a thank you for their loyalty during these difficult times,” Yorkshire County Cricket Club Chief Executive Mark Arthur, said in a statement.

Lancashire Director of Cricket Paul Allott hoped for the county season to begin from August 1 as he expects this match to be exemplary for the others to follow similar steps.

“Preparations are starting to ramp up ahead of a county cricket season starting potentially as early as 1 August and this friendly will be a more than worthwhile exercise for our squad.

“We would like to thank Yorkshire for their co-operation and for hosting the fixture at Emerald Headingley, whilst Emirates Old Trafford plays host to England and the West Indies in a behind-closed-doors Test series,” Allott said in  a statement.
