Honda introduces engine updates for Red Bull and Alpha Tauri, as the new season set to begin by the end of this week in Austria.

Honda has introduced upgraded engines for both the Red Bull-owned teams- Aston Martin Red Bull Racing and Alpha Tauri. It has been claimed that Honda was able to continue working on the development of the engine at the beginning of the pandemic while other teams didn’t have that possibility.

Therefore, giving a boost to both teams as it will be a much stronger engine against other teams with a sizeable aerodynamic upgrade for their home race, with tweaks to the floor and front wing visible when they ran their 2020-spec car at Silverstone for a filming day last week.

Later Honda shut down its factory during the corona crisis, which allowed them to continue developing the engine. Because of the different methods of combating the COVID-19 spread in Europe and Asia.

The governmental policies in Japan helped Honda to further develop their engines. The Japanese conveniently postponed the closure period to later this year.

It tends to be an unsporting advantage because the teams in Europe did not have this possibility, but it is according to the book and the Sporting Regulations.

Since most of the power sources are going to be frozen for the rest of the year, teams using Honda engines will be having a significant advantage over other teams.

According to the official channels of Formula 1, there are improvements in engine power and reliability. In previous years, other teams have often objected against undue advantages in manufacturing.

However, this case seems an exception, and there is a possibility that other teams probably won’t be able to do anything about it, and Red Bull might topple Ferrari and Mercedes because of it.
